Pathologist:

Determining the health status of your cat includes a history (from you!), a physical examination, and sometimes pathology tests. It is recommended that all cats undergoing a general anaesthetic (especially older cats or cats of certain breeds) should have a pre-anaesthetic screen (PAS) performed to check things like kidney and liver function. We have a blood biochemistry machine on the premises and are able to do many tests in-house. Some tests, for example checking for urine infection need to be done at a laboratory. We send our samples to different laboratories depending on the tests and the expertise of the pathologists.
